Janík Motorsport will again take part in virtual races
Last year, Janík Motorsport expanded its activities in the E-sport ranks and successfully completed the season of the "Mercedes-Benz Virtual GP" simracing championship, organized by the Virtual GP organization. This year with a new driver line-up.
This season, the drivers will compete in 12 races with two different cars. In the first half of the year, they will get behind the wheel of a Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, which will also kick off the season on March 12 at Australia's Mount Panorama circuit. The second half of the season will kick off with the Super Formula SF23 on 13 August at Silverstone. The final race will be held on Tuesday, 5 November 2024 at Suzuka in Japan.
Janík Motorsport has welcomed two new drivers to represent the team colours this year. Team owner Václav Janík also expressed his expectations for the new season. "I am happy to be able to introduce our team in the Mercedes-Benz Virtual GP championship, which we will be participating in for the second year. These races are an extension of our team activities and I am glad that we have two new drivers, Tomáš and Petr, who will represent us this year. I hope that we can push our results a little bit forward from last year and be able to reach for the podium again, and I want to wish the boys the best of luck."
Tomáš Hora got into simracing because he was interested in motorsport and what it involves. Since it is a financially demanding field, he started looking for another option, which led him to simracing. He switched from the keyboard to the steering wheel and searched for championships in the Czech Republic. He improved over time and has now joined the Janík Motorsport team, from which he has positive impressions. He is glad for the opportunity to get closer to real racing, which gives him a broader perspective.
The driver has clear goals for this year. "This year I would like to repeat last year's result, so TOP 5 and higher. We'll see if we can do it, because every year the competition grows and getting into the Top 5 is harder and harder. I think it's not impossible, so TOP 5 in riders and TOP 3 or TOP 4 in teams."
Peter Hermoch had a slightly different path to simracing, one that his father led him to. His father rides a motorcycle and is no stranger to speed, but unfortunately motorsport is not a cheap activity, so he encouraged his son to race on the computer. Peter got his first Logitech steering wheel from his parents in 2018 and started simracing on rFactor 2. He has been preparing for the season diligently throughout the winter and often trains on weekends.
"For me personally, the goal is Top 5 in driver placement and I would like to see the team in the Top 3 because I think Janík Motorsport belongs in the higher part of the field. We also have some motivation from Janík Motorsport. If we do well in the season, we are promised a ride in a Formula 4 car, which is a great motivation for us."
